WIRE 2010 changes the pace of the industry

Rising confidence in future business development and an increase in capital expenditure plans describe the current views of
the cold forming industry expressed during WIRE 2010,  which venued from April 12 - 16,2010 in Düsseldorf. From that point,
this most important international meeting of the industry was taking place just at the right time, as visitors and exhibitors alike pointed out.

So it came not as a suprise that the many new products and developments presented by Schwer + Kopka sparked an enormous amount of interest amongst the industry experts visiting our stand. Whether it was about the new Mandon-technology or the entirely new range of process monitors, whether the interest was on our new job scheduling package  or about the Hybrid sensors permitting press alignment checks, we were extremely pleased with the many discussions we had including the start-up of a number of major projects.

In addition, the showing of the new monitor series in elegantly designed new wall panels and our proven large screen
presentation once more underlined SK 's clear show concept.

Here's a brief survey of our show highlights for your quickreference:

New SK series of process monitors

The new range includes 5 different models which are all operated with modern touch screen technology. The monitors feature
full color, high resolution graphic displays ranging from 4,3” up to 15 “ in size. In addition, the monitors use a completely new operating concept which supports the machine user in an unprecedented manner when analyzing and rectifying problems by
introducing our new Mandon-technology (see below).

Mandon-technology

Our new Mandon-technology is the logical step forward from the knwon Andon information boards used widely within
the industry.  The  machine's Andon  -called  Mandon - is an intelligent messaging system which provides the operator
automatically with important information based upon continuous observation and logical analysis of all current process data.
This information is also given if the operator is busy working on the neighbouring machine.  Whenever there is a need for
any intervention, Mandon makes itself  visible by prompting the respective message on the screen of the process monitor.
The necessary intelligence and know-how for a reliable messaging system is drawn from a set of rules which incorporates
the expert knowledge collected in many years. Mandon-technology allows to put right decisions immediately into operation.

New hybrid sensors offer 3-dimensional measurement of forming forces

Three-dimensional force readings offer a wealth of advantages over the conventional force sensing which just measures
the forming forces 1-dimensionally in the direction of the stroke. Our hybrid sensors are capable to actually see the true
direction of the forming force. This feature is used to accomplish 2 things: First of all, the 3D-reading tells the operator if
punch and die side tools are properly centered or not. A visual target screen shows in real time where the forces are
currently "shooting". Secondly, the load monitor watches if the direction of the forces suddenly changes during the
production run indicating that some of error has occurred. The result is significantly improved error detection for defects
that cause directional forces changes, such as cracked heads, partially broken tools, etc.

Impressions from WIRE 2010:

Many machine manufacturers were again showing SK monitors in operation on machines running in their booths:
